About the organization

The School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (SEMS) has an active student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). A bi-weekly meeting is held on Monday at 5:00 PM in John Jay 329, the SEMS Student Activities Office (above the gym).

The student chapter is involved in community service, assisting organizations with PC services and hardware through the Computing Machinery Community Outreach program and volunteering with the Future City Pittsburgh event. We participate yearly in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Programming Contest and have begun work on the Elevator Challenge.

The student chapter proudly serves the RMU engineering and IS student body by providing several important academic and professional services. The Internship Assistance Program was started to provide accurate listings of local internships at reputable companies. The Academic Mentoring Program is designed to help underclassmen understand the merits, needs, and value of various course offerings and elective choices.

The national and local chapter have a variety of resources at the disposal of their members. From online courses and books to professional publications and journals. The ACM hosts a job search similar to MonsterTRAK specific to computing professions.

Contact

As our officers are very active engineering students, their availability is low. Email is the best method of contact, please use the RMU student search until we get the information on this wiki. We are currently housed in the SEMS Student Activities Office located above the John Jay gym between the ROTC offices.

We have a Facebook group, although it is rather inactive.
